2009 ARTIST INFORMATION

Dear Artist,

Excitement is in the air as we gear up for our “Fourth Annual Art on the Square” on September 12, 2009, 10:00 am-4:00 pm. Last year’s event was spectacular and we are expecting this year’s event to be even greater! Because of last year’s large number of artists’ responses and limited space we will be strict to our registration deadline.

All artists will be selected for entry based on the originality, workmanship and overall artistic quality of their work. All artists who register before the deadline and who are approved will have the first assignments of the grassy area around the courthouse until all spaces are filled. All late registering artists will be placed on the street if no space is available in the grass. It is at the discretion of AOTS for space allocation in order to best display the variety of art represented. Remember, the date that you register may play an important part in your booth location this year.

This is a juried art show with a non refundable jury fee of $10.00. The booth fee is $50 and refundable if not selected or if canceled by August 15, 2009. The total cost of booth and jury fee is $60 if received by July 1, 2009, NO EXCEPTIONS, after this date all entries will be charged an additional late fee of $40. Absolute last deadline to submit is July 10, 2009. It is important to get your applications in early.

Entries will be accepted in various mediums including; drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, photography, digital art, fiber, glass, 2-D & 3-D mixed media (please note the detailed description on the application page). Because this is a kid friendly event we ask that you exclude nudes in your exhibit. We do apologize for this restriction. We will not accept any craft items, nothing made from molds or kits. Our judges have no affiliation with the AOTS committees and are selected to jury the entries based on their art experience and credentials.

Please submit your application, at least three samples of your work on CD or photo format and $60 payable to: Art on the Square, PO Box 1560, Athens AL 35612. Applications and samples can also be dropped off at Westside Jiffy Pharmacy, 1204 West Market Street, Athens from 8am to 7pm Monday – Friday, 8 am to 5pm Saturday. For featured artist stories to help promote our event please include your picture and bio.

Artists are responsible for supplying their own tent, table(s) & chairs. To prevent any possible damage to the grass, we asked that you use weights to secure your tent. The booth space is 10' x 10', if more space is needed; please contact us at least 2 weeks prior to event for approval. Art on the Square thanks all returning artists for your past participation and would also like to welcome all new artists for your interest in helping us make this another great year.
